Hours of Operation for Forex Trading

Forex trading is the largest trading market in the world. It has been reported that daily more than $2.1 trillion worth of transactions take place. This makes the forex trading market very volatile and exciting. But the amazing part of the entire aspect of forex trading is that it hasn’t got any centralized exchange or location or timing.

No definite hours

The stock market has a particular place where all stock dealings take place; it opens and closes at a fixed time. But forex trading has no location and no timing. The trading goes on the entire day, 24 hours literally! It has been appropriately said that the forex market never sleeps. There is no waiting for the bell to announce the opening of the market; the forex traders take advantage of the time differences around the world.

The trader takes advantage of the price differences as soon as it occurs. We all know that there are constant variations in the price differences of various currencies and events around the world affect the dealings. The dealers are always looking out for world news and events which may swing the price of the currency they are interested in to their favor.

Although there are no fixed timings, forex trading normally takes place from Sunday at 5.15 PM  at Sydney and goes on non stop till Friday 4PM as per EST, (Eastern Standard Time). You may trade any time of the day, be it morning, noon or night! This works in favor of the forex dealers, unlike those who trade in stocks and are limited by the opening and closing time of the stock exchanges. The liquidity of the market has made forex trading so flexible and versatile that one can just pick up the phone and trade in forex. No other known trading is done in this manner and time. It is all the more astonishing if you consider the fact that it the biggest trade in the world!
