Default Back up to prevent NSF charges.

I have 2 different checking accounts, one I use to pay bills with monthly and the other one is a little larger and is a checking account simply because it does draw a tad bit of interest each year.

Anyway, I made a trip up to the bank this week and had the larger account hooked onto the smaller one in case there should ever be a Non Sufficient Funds option put against the used checking account for not enough money to cover what Ive paid.

This prevents a $33 charge if a NSF should ever happen. Instead, I would be covered. And there is a small charge of $5 to have this done but it is a lot better than the $33 they usually charge.

You may want to look into this at your bank.

Default Re: Back up to prevent NSF charges.

Thank God I had done this. There was a mix up with the VA and over $3,000 was taken back out of my account and if I hadnt had the two accounts joined for such happenings as this, I would have ended up paying a lot in overdraft fees. As it stands, it has only cost me $5 because of my foresight.

I called the VA and explained the situation and the money is being returned. Things just got mixed up a bit but still, hadnt I had the foresight to protect myself, it could have cost me hundreds to pay for insufficient funds.
