Default Bank account alerts may help you

I never heard of this befor but it sounds like it could help my daughter from bouncing Checks. If she has a constant reminder of when her bills are do or when her account is getting low. Below explains alittle more on how Account Alerts work.

Quote:
Alerts

Alerts are email notifications of activity on your accounts. You can set up various alerts to notify you when select activity occurs on your accounts through Online Banking and Investing.
There are 2 types of alerts: Optional and Bank-Initiated. You select and set up Optional alerts. Bank-Initiated alerts are predetermined and required by the Bank.
Optional

Bill Pay Alerts
  • Scheduled bill payment reminders
  • Bill payment notifications due to insufficient funds
Transaction Alerts
  • Deposits or withdrawals greater than a client-specified amount
  • Payments posted

My bank also offers, (and I am sure others do too) what they call an Insufficient Funds Account. If you would happen to overdraw any amount up to $200, the bank will put that amount in your account and notify you that you have overdrawn. You will then have 7 days to put the insufficient funds amount back into the account to avoid the fees. You do need to meet certain criteria before being allowed to have this overdraft account. It probably differs bank to bank. If you do qualify it is a wonderful thing. Those fees can add up quickly and we all do make mistakes.

I believe most banks also offer to take money from a savings account also to cover checking accounts with insufficient funds to cover a check. This can be a valuable tool, but some banks require at least $200 to be in the savings account plus enough for the bounced check.
