Default Check Cashing Issues

This is unreal, I recieved a check from a friend of mine for some items that she was wanting of mine. I know her check is good because she is extremely careful when it comes to her account.

So I never would have thought that there would have been a problem cashing the thing. Though guess what I was completely off on that one.

I went to HER back to cash the check and was told that they could not cash the check because I did not have an account there!!!

Does this mean that from now on I am going to need to have an account at every bank possible in this country to be able to cash a check??? I mean come on this is completely unreal!!!

I dislike banks because of all the fines, fees and what ever that they can tack onto anyones account to gain more money, the last thing I want is to have a need to open an account at each bank in my area at least to be able to cash a simple check.

I dont understand why there would be such a problem cashing a check at a bank where the issure hold an account. This is just another way for banks to mess with peoples lives.

Of course my friend was not happy about this problem either. After I spoke to her about this, she asked me to wait and showed up at the bank a few minutes later. She raised all kinds of heck then she wrote a check out for cash and right in front of the teller she handed me the money she owed me and turned back to the teller and said "Now see that wasnt so hard was it"?

I about died laughing. She also informed them that she if this happens again she would be looking for another bank that would be willing to actually take care of their customers.

This does get infuriating. But I havent run into that problem yet. I have always been able to go to the persons bank that wrote the check and gotten it cashed.

However, this isnt the first time I have heard of this happening. It seems the banks are doing all they can now to get new customers. Probably because people arent trusting the banks as they once did, the banks arent having as many customers as they once did.

I have gotten money from my daughter in Michigan for the holidays, and she always sends it by moneygram at Walmart because getting an out of state personal check cashed would mean putting it into my account and waiting 5 to 7 days for the check to clear.

There has to be an easier way. And until there is, I will stick to a debit card or money order.

This is all just a bunch of crap. I refuse to have one bank account let alone an account in every bank possible just so that I will be able to cash a stupid check. Its unreal and completely unfair!!

This is just yet one more reason for me to dislike banks completely and speak out against them every possible chance I get.

I do not have that problem at my bank. As long as the person who wrothe the check has an account , they will cash it for free., Now if you or the person who wrote the check has an account, they may not cash it.

I can see where she was upset with her bank. that was uncalled for. the check was on her account that was at that bank.

That is what upset her the most. She wrote me a check and I went to HER bank and they refused to cash the check because I didnt have an account there.

Now to me that is NOT a good way to do business at all. I know if I were to want a bank account it would not be at a bank who does business like this.

I think that it would just cause way to many problems if I were to attempt to write a check for something.

I can write anyone a check and they can take it to my bank and get it cashed anytime. I am glad I do not have that problem or I would be looking another bank.

They are suppose to honor thier own customers checks. The banks work you you, not you for them. Without our little money together they could not be in business.
