I gave my daughter a check so that she could finish her christmas shopping. She couldn't cash it at her bank because she had no money in her account.

I think that one could give a person a check for a hundred dollars and they would be able to cash it right away. Especially when its written from a local bank.

She then went to check and go and got it cashed. Instead of it being $4 to cash it as they said it was $8. I had written the check over by $4 to cover the expense but it didn't work out right.

It makes me angry that in the age of the internet and the banks all have phones that one should have to wait 5 days to cash a little check like that one.

A phone call would have told them that there was money in my account and the check was not going to bounce. OMG! get a grip.
