With the Federal Reserve cutting rates six times since September, the days of tidily earning 5% on your cash appear to be a thing of the past. Since last June, yields on online savings accounts at HSBC and Emigrant Direct have dropped from just over 5% (among the highest yields at the time) to 3.55% and 3.3%, respectively. The returns on high-yield savings and money-market accounts are even more meager — averaging just 2.64%, according to Bankrate.com.
High yield savings accounts.

There are several different banking options available.

I think these online high interest savings accounts are the best place to stash your emergency fund and save up money for your short-term goals, such as, saving money for down payment on your house or your car. There are many options available when it comes to online banking, with a wide variety of account features and options.

These have to be better than the banks around my home. Ive been with the same bank for eight years now and i havent been able to do squat with my account. I can put money into the account and am lucky to make a few pennies off of it. They also give me the run around for everything. I cant even take my mother of my account without completely closing it. Her being able to sign a couple of papers. Its even more rediculous that im the primary on the account to.
