Default Re: The new bank overdraft fees

It's irksome, isn't it? You agree to directly deposit your paycheck to avoid the account maintenance fee, you agree to get paperless statements to save "trees" (or "the bank's money"), you do most of your transfers online, you do most of your manual deposits and cash withdrawals via ATM, etc. The bank will argue that it needs the fees to provide these "services", but it's certainly not to fund too much overhead. I can't remember the last time I spoke to a bank representative, except to straighten out a bank error. Oy.

We do still have a little bank in a small town near us that hasnt changed at all in the last 25 years. It still even looks the same, and theres not much turnover in tellers unless one retires.

When you walk into this bank you are greeted with your first name and asked sincerely how you are doing and what can I help you with today.

This is a bank that cares about its customers and will go out of its way to do what it can to help the people in the community.

More banks like this are needed. Heck, they dont even charge overdraft fees most of the time simply because they know their customers and their banking habits and will call them to tell them they are overdrawn but we paid the check for you. Please come in at your convenience to deposit.

Now thats a caring bank in my opinion.
