Default Toy Collections

My Sweetie's bank has boxes already out collecting toys, shoes, coats and other things for those who are in need of them.

I didn't expect to see these things just yet, but I guess the way that things have been going in this country the number of kids who are going to be needing these things has also increased.

I haven't gotten anything to donate just yet, but I will. I always try to donate at least one thing if not serveral every year. I may not be what you would call rich, but I am better off than some people in this world and I like to help out when I can.

Are any of you also seeing these collection boxes out and about just yet? I haven't seen any anywhere else, though it is only a matter of time before they start popping up.

I wish that there was not a need for this kind of stuff in this country as we are supposed to be the richest country and most loving country in the world, yet we still have need to help so many!!

I hyaven't seen any donation boxes out yet this year but I am sure they will popping up soon.

I agree with you too that it really stinks that so many people are struggling but they are and they do need help. It doesn't matter what you can give, anything is better than nothing at all.

Pretty soon we will be hearing the bells of those collecting for the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army does great work. If everyone would just donate their coin change after shopping can you imagine how much that would add up to? How many great things that could be done for kids who have nothing at all? Even if it's just three pennies. There is no shame in that. Anything at all is awesome and it really does add up in the long run.

And the feeling of the goodness that you have done after donating is awesome because you know that although it might not have been much, it was something. It did matter to someone.

I think its great that there are places parents can go to get help for Christmas in these hard times.

I like to contribute what I can to some of the Salvation Army kettles. Even if its just the change from purchases you have made in that store, it all helps and it does give you a good feeling.

Many children will be doing without this year, so another option we all have is to adopt a family and buy a few gifts, it doesnt have to be expensive gifts and will make the children in that family so happy to have something under the tree.

I will donate items like shoes, clothing and toys to the salvation army though one thing I will not give to them is money.

A good friend of mine was having a real hard time. Actually she left her husband who had been beating her on what seemed a weekly basis and she took their two children with her.

Having no where to do she went to the salvation army for help and they flat out told her that there was nothing at all that they could do.

She did make it to a church which offered her help and she is of course now back on her feet, divorced and living on her own.

Because of this I will not give the salvation army money, but I will help them to help others with material items during the holidays.
