Default Avoid a Tax Audit

Typically there are two ways to get audited. One is unfortunately you are part of a targeted group. The second is they see a red flag. The third is simply computer generated. Their computer automatically pulls returns at random to be looked over by the audit department.

You can help yourself avoid a tax audit.

1. Check and recheck your math. Make sure all of the information is correct.

2. Recheck the amounts that you put in compared to what your w-2's state.

3. Don't talk taxes on Facebook. Believe it or not they have caught people bragging about putting one over on the IRS. Not a good thing to do. They will yank your papers in a heartbeat.

4. If most of your income comes in cash form that puts up a red flag. Avoid that if possible because they will want to see if you have unreported income.

5. Using the wrong forms will red flag you as well. Make sure all of the forms that you use are the proper ones.

Default Re: Avoid a Tax Audit

It is amazing that the things on social sites like facebook are used against people!!

Police departments use facebook as well to locate many people that they are looking for, and now I see that the IRS is doing the very same thing if people brag about their taxes.

I guess this is what people get for running their mouthes!!

Thanks for the tips on avoiding a tax audit. That is something I don't think anyone ever wants to go through. Tips on avoiding them are helpful to everyone, so thanks again!!
