Default Charitable contributions.

We all make contributions at some point during the year.
It doesn't matter how small it is you should really get a
reciept. I hate to use them on my taxes because then I
don't feel like I really gave of myself.
But to be realistic it sometimes takes away from my family
in a very small way. I could have spent it on something frivilous
but chose to help people who don't have the luxury of doing things
like that.
Keep reciepts with your tax papers and be sure to claim them when
you file your income taxes. It is important to give to others but it is
just as important to give to yourself. The bit you get to take off your
taxes is a gift to yourself. Kind of like a reward for being a good citizen.

Default Claiming Charitable contributions on your taxes

Yes claiming charitable contributions on your taxes is a gift to you but make sure you know the rules of claiming contributions on your taxes.

Quote:
Rules for Claiming the Charitable Contribution Deduction

Your gift of cash or property must meet certain criteria in order to be tax-deductible.
  • You must actually donate cash or property. A pledge or promise to donate is not deductible until you actually pay.
  • You must contribute to a qualified tax-exempt organization. Charities will let you know if they have received their 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
  • Keeping Records of Your Charity

  • It is best to know how and what can be deducted so that there is know problem with the IRS. That can't be fun to be audited.
