Default End of the year.

The end of the year is quickly approaching. It is very important to really begin your tax planning now. This will help to eleviate some of the stress that naturally occurs during tax season.
Give your tax adviser a call and see if there are any major tax changes that may affect you. Know what documents that you need to bring.
Collect all of your reciepts and put them into a file folder. Keep the folder where you can quickly find it. This way you can add those end of the year documents and reciepts.
I hate tax time and always seem to find stray reciepts everywhere. My greatest disappoinment however is when I can't find one or two of the big ones that I really know that I need.
I go as soon as I get all of our W-2's in and I love it because we get our refund money as early as march. No reason to wait till the last minute if you are already properly prepared.

Default Re: End of the year.

I have begun preparing some of the items you mentioned already but I do still have a long way to go before I am ready to file. As I said in a post before, I am such a procrastinator when it comes to doing this. I don't tend to keep my tax documentation very organized and it just makes getting ready that much more of a chore. I really do need to start keeping a place just for these items and then it won't be such a hassle anymore.
