Default Filing Taxes as a Married Gay Couple

I'm going to leave my personal feelings out of this for the most part because to be honest I don't know how I feel about same sex marriages. I guess I'm not sure how to feel. I'm not for or against it. I have nothing against gay people what so ever.

I do have good news for gay couples in New York though. They can file their taxes as married if they do indeed get married!

New York legislator has just passed a law allowing gay couples to be married. New York is now the sixth state I believe to do so.

California had done so briefly in 2008 but it ended up overturned and is now in the Federal Appeals Court.

You can bet there will be tons of same sex marriages taking place in Central Park.

And as I said before they will be able to file taxes as married which offers more tax breaks.

Default Re: Filing Taxes as a Married Gay Couple

I am glad to hear this. Same sex couples have had such a rough time and still do that it is about time they started getting a bit of a break.

When it comes to personal feeling on this subject. All I have to say is that it isn't for me, but the heart wants what the heart wants and I will leave it at that.

Hell if a person can find happiness in this world right now, more power to them!!!

Now if only the rest of the United States would wake up and allow same sex couples once married to file taxes together! That is the way it should be.
