Default Higher Taxes On The Way

While watching tv this morning I came across a show featuring Ben Stein and he was discussing the economic status of this country and more or less stated that they ONLY way to get our country back on track is to increase the amount of taxes that people pay.

He says mostly it will be those who are well off who will be hit the hardest with the higher taxes, but we are all going to see higher taxes. This isn't very good news for most people because we are already being taxed to death practically, plus dealing with high fuel prices and the prices of everything else going up.

I know that I don't want to deal with more taxes or higher taxes. It really isn't in my budget. So higher taxes are going to make things even more difficult on me and millions of others!!!

Most people can not afford to lose a dime, not alone pay any more taxes then we already do.

The big wigs in this country seem to be under the impression that increasing the amount of taxes we already pay and adding in new ones is the only way of getting this country straightened out.

So it appears that we all are gonna be forced by the government to stretch our already tight budgets to pay more in new and higher taxes they are preparing for us.

I am just one of the million who does not want to even hear about more taxes, but our government doesn't want to take pay cuts or spend less to deal with the situation we are all in, so that leaves those who are already struggling to take care of what the government has done.

I was just thinking about how much in taxes comes out of my paycheck. It's ridiculous and I am so tired of it.

Literally 1/4 of my paychecks go to taxes. State, Federal, Social Security and Medicare.

Here is what burns me even further.

I know many people who somehow manage to get SS disability every month. I'm talking hundreds of MY dollars. They have never worked and they are on drugs!!! They use the money that they get from the gov which comes from those of us who work and they buy drugs with it! They get foodstamp cards and sell those to people for cash to buy drugs!

I'm not saying that everyone does this of course but there are plenty who do and I am tired of it. I have a notion to turn them all in. I am so tired of working five to six days a week, missing out on the things that my kids do, barely scraping by while these dope heads get my money!

If the government would require drug testing for these people there would be a lot less of them eligible and save money that way!

Kudos to you. It does suck to work hard, do your best and see people who don't work able to afford booze and drugs because they are living off those who do work.

Those kinds of people should be turned it, they don't deserve to recieve FREE money every single month.

Drug testing should be something that anyone and everyone should have to do at least every other month that collects disability.

It isn't right to see these kinds of people sitting around partying while getting money and yet we have to work hard to earn a few dollars!!

This is something else that our government needs to focus on. If they start saying the costs of testing are to high, well then make those collecting the money pay for it or at least half of the testing costs. If they fail twice in a one year period then they should completely lose their benefits until they complete some kind of program for their addictions and some other punishment!!

Now that sounds like a good plan to me!!

I truly hope you are meaning people that are simply using the welfare system to not work rather than folks on disability.

People on disability go months and months (sometimes years) with NO income fighting through appeals to get placed on disability. It is a very difficult process which 99% of the time is denied at first only to have to go further. You must have numerous medical exams to prove your inability to work along with frequent checks to ensure your condition hasn't improved. You must be monitored for any changes in lifestyle, health, living arrangements etc. It's not just money being thrown at them.

I agree that people on food stamps, welfare etc. should have to have some type of drug testing just like those on medicaid for pregnancies should be required to have some form of birth control in place to prevent additional unplanned children.

HOWEVER - disability is a totally different story. These people are unable to work, not just being lazy and sitting around using your money to take drugs. It is offensive to hear this especially since I have seen it first hand from loved ones dealing with this. I'm not saying that there are NO people on disability mistreating the system but to stereotype it that way is pitiful.

Not to mention your taxes and paychecks do not pay for people who have been placed on SSI or SS for disability. These people have either worked and put in the money from years of working before becoming disabled and the others that have not ever been able to work the funds come from a Government grant that has nothing to do with your paycheck.

It's just sad to find people are so cynical that good people are being judged when they are simply trying to support their families using the tools that our government has put into place. I know you said it's not all people on disability however the use of "these people" and "them" does seem to cover the majority of individuals.

Granted there are many people on disability who should be recieving money every month along with the needed medications to deal with the health issues that they may have.

The problem I have are those who are on disability or welfare who do nothing at all but sit around partying, buying drugs from others and don't do a damn thing.

I know a few people myself who are on disability and have good reasons for fighting to get it. Then again I also know way to many who are able to work but rather not, they play their parts well when it comes to doctor appointments and so on so that they can continue collecting free money. These are the people I am against!!

Now as for your comment when it comes to government programs that are in place, well that money comes from some where and normally it is out of the pockets of the working people.
