WASHINGTON (AP) -- Even before Congress passes an economic stimulus package, identity thieves are using promises of tax rebates to trick people into revealing financial and personal data, the Internal Revenue Service warned Wednesday. ADVERTISEMENT
Under one scheme, the IRS said, people are receiving phone calls telling them they can only receive a rebate if they provide bank account information for a direct deposit.

This is some valuable information that I hope everyone becomes aware of.

Unfortunately we live in a society where scams are quite prevalant and being forwarned is invaluable.

Default rebate scames

Thanks for posting this bit of information we all should be aware of this as our information is very privite and needs to be protected remember everyone that you should never give your personal information to anyone over the phone ask the person what their name is and who they work for and a phone number then call the IRS and ask them if they are doing things by phone and have the information of the person who called you and turn them in

The IRS should already have all the information on you that they need I feel for the elderly who fall so easily to scams of all sort. thanks for this information.

People are just sick.. It makes me so mad because I know that there are
Nineveh people out there that will fall for it..and get burned in the end..
