Default Life events and their effect on taxes.

There is a whole list of events that can change your taxes.
Here is some of that list.

1. The birth of a child. When your child is born you can claim them on that years income taxes. I had my daughter staying with me and she had her daughter during that time. We were able to claim both of them.

2. Marriage or Divorce- Make sure you contact the Social
Security Administration. Filing taxes can become complicated due to the name change. Especially if the name doesn't match the social security number on file.

3. Due to the recent Hurricanes the IRS has given disaster victims some extra time to file taxes. Check the IRS website for details.

There are so many different events and remedies that I can't list them all. You can check the IRS website or ask your tax preparer about them.

Default Re: Life events and their effect on taxes.

Yes, there are many life events that effect ones taxes and you should be sure to check the governments website to see which if any you are eligible to take.

It is good that they are giving the hurricane victims extra time to file. Replacing all the records these victims had, plus paystubs and so forth will take quite a while. Not to mention birth certificates, ss cards etc. This will all take time to replace.
