Default Overlooked tax deductions.

Deduct income tax rather than state and local income tax. This way the deduction is usually larger.

Out of pocket charitable deductions like stamps for school funding mailings count as does 14 cents per mile plus tolls and parking costs if you used your car for charity last year.

Job search expenses only count if it is not your first job that you are looking for. And must be part of itemized deductions and exceed 2% of your AGI. These include transportation, lodging, food, cab fares and costs for resumes and business cards etc.

Self employed people can deduct premiums for Medicare part B and D.
