Default Babysitting Chickens

Here is a good one for ya if you are in need of making a few extra bucks. Chicken babysitting! I kinow how funny that sounds but people happen to be doing that days and they are making decent money at it!

Portland Oregon is kind of known for everyone having chickens in the backyard. Well knowing that a couple of women started a business called Us Hens. They "babysit" hens while their owners go on vacation.

Quote:
So the women teamed up to offer a slate of services: $15 per visit for hen sitting, $25 for hen health house calls and $50 an hour for consultations on urban agriculture.
They have a handful of customers so far but they are hopeful to gain more as word gets out about their business.

I think it's a great idea! A cool way to make some extra cash!

Well their business has really gone to the birds..... This is a great way to make some extra money when money is so tight right now. I am glad that they have come up with a business that is looking to become more and more successful.

Of course something like that in my area would not really work out well because we don't have many people in my area who own chickens.

Though I do have a neighbor who owns a billy goat that I do watch at times for the owner,LOL.

Other ways to make extra cash is dog walking, or starting a kennel where people who are going on vacation can board their dogs until they get back. I had a German Shepherd at one time and had to put him in a kennel while I was away and it wasnt easy to find a kennel that would take him as he was a larger breed and most people are kinda scared of the larger breeds of dogs.

Some people are even willing to pay someone to come into their homes and "dog sit" while they are away, the same thing applies to our feline friends.

Theres money to be made out there, you just have to sit down and think about what services people in your area might be interested in.

I live in an area that is mostly the elderly. On several occasions I have gone to the homes of a few of these elderly folks to do their laundry, clean house, prepare a meal or two and things such as that.

This is usally when there is an illness or hopsilization. Mostly I have done it just to help them out, though they always hand me a bit of money for the work I have done.

I don't do this very often, but it is a great way to be helpful and to earn a few extra dollars at the same time.

I agree with you there is work out there you just have to be willing to do it and of course be reasonable about prices as well.

Helping the elderly is a great thing to do and yes they are usually so appreciative that they will give you a little money for the work you have done.

Perhaps you could start a little business of your own, offering house cleaning or even grocery shopping to the elderly in your area. Just keep in mind that a lot of the elderly dont have a lot of money so lower prices would be the way to go.

Another idea would be to be a companion for several hours a day as most elderly spend so much of their time alone and really appreciate the company.

That is something that I do enjoy doing a whole lot. I love the stories that most eldery like to share with others. I know most of their family members and I have never once met these people.

I do like spending time with them when I can. I also like heading out to bingo with them as well. These ladies and gentlemen are extremely funny when it comes to their bingo games. I love it.
