Default Clint Eastwood Donating Movie Money to Aid Japan

Clint Eastwood's most recent movie "Hereafter" was actually pulled from Japan because it has scenes of a tsunami in it and they just didn't feel that it would be appropriate right now.

Clint has decided to donate all proceeds gained from DVD sales of the movie to Japan to help aid in their recovery.

Quote:
The scenes featuring a character who survives the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami were deemed to be "inappropriate" in light of recent events. Eastwood and bosses at the Warner Bros. studio have now stepped forward and offered to help those affected by the disaster by donating money from the film's DVD and Blue-ray sales to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

"The devastation and loss Japan is facing is almost incomprehensible," a statement from the "Dirty Harry" star reads. "I'm glad to join Warner Bros. in this effort to help the Japanese people."
I think it's pretty awesome that they doing this.

It is awesome that they are contributing this money to Japan. I wonder if any other stars will take it upon themselves to donate to this disaster?

A lot of times, when one actor is involved in something like this, others will follow their lead and contribute also. And right now, Japan needs all the help it can get to recover from this devastation.

It is nice to see that people including someone as famous as Clint Eastwood taking it upon themselves to help Japan. However I have to think of the money from the DVD sales would do to help aid THIS country!!

I feel sorry for everyone in Japan who are suffering through this diseaster, but still I can't help but feel even more sorry for everyone in our country who are also suffering on a daily basis. This is why I believe that people should be doing something to help the people here before they worry about other countries.

I know that sounds heartless and this country was built on the idea of helping others however we are not in the best of shape right now to be doing that so we should be taking care of ourselves before others at least until our own country is straightened out!

You know what guys, I don't mean to take away from what those people are going through because they of course are the ones in the absolute worst situation but this will have a lot of bad effects on us as well. Not life threatening but financially.

Think about all of the products that we buy all the time that are made in Japan. One of the first things that comes to mind for me is electronics. The prices are going to go so high I bet because first of all production has been stopped for a lot of things and so the prices will go up. Even the things that they may still be producing, shipping will be a real problem right now.

Secondly you have companies here at home relying on parts that they buy from Japan such as I heard that one of our car companies (can't remember which one) has basically stopped production because they can't the parts that they need.

When you really think about it we are so very reliant on other countries. When catastrophies happen we are greatly effected too.

I think that if we manufactured what we needed in this country and what not we would have plenty of jobs all around and we wouldn't be in the mess that we are in now.

I always try to buy American made products because I believe we need to support our own country before we support others.

We could actually get all that we needed for anything right here in this country, but because other countries offer things for a lesser price, our government and businesses always want that cheaper price and that leaves us in the same situation we are in right now and in the future probably even worse off.

I seriously feel bad for everything that those people in Japan who are suffering so dearly. Though I still think that we need to take care of our country before we juggle helping others.

Well now Lady Gaga is on board to help Japan.

She is selling wristbands online that say "We pray for Japan" written in English and Japanese. 100% of the proceeds go directly to Japan relief.

Quote:
In just the first two days of sales, the bracelets proved to be hugely popular. "Monsters: in just 48 hrs you've raised a quarter of a million dollars for Japan Relief," Gaga Tweeted Monday.
Other celebrities are pitching is too. Blink 182, Linkin Park, Charlie Sheen and Alex Bittar are all doing different things with 100% of the profit going to Japan.

It truly is amazing what can be accomplished when people pull together. It's a shame that it takes such a disaster for that to happen though.
