Default Continental and United Merging

Did you know that Continental and United are going to merge together? I must be walking around with my head in the clouds because I had not heard a thing about this until now. Well, I guess it's official. They will merge.

The official announcment will come tomorrow I guess. The deal was approved today.

The merger between these two airlines would make it the biggest airline in the world. They would be bigger than Delta who merged with Northwest in 2008.

Assuming everything goes as planned, the company would be based in Chicago (where United is based) and use the United name. Continental's chief executive Jeff Smisek will run the company.

There had been talks between the two companies back in 2008 about merging but ultimately Continental backed out.
