The soaring cost of food and fuel will be hitting our school lunch programs when school resumes. The National School Lunch Program's percentage of payment for the lunches has not risen like the cost of the food. This money has to come from somewhere, so it will likely be passed on to the parents in the form of higher prices for those lunches.

When America’s schoolchildren return to class in the fall, they will learn a painful lesson in economics: Higher food and fuel prices are forcing up the price of school breakfasts and lunches across the country, by as much as 50 percent in some districts

Well, here's another budget problem for parents. Seems like every time we turn around, there's another hand in our pocket. I don't know how to better cope with the rising costs. I feel that soon, we may just have to sit in the dark, reading by candlelight. Well if this happens, maybe we will all be a little closer as families..........we'll have to really talk to each other.
