Default Gas prices might jump 40% by summer

Gas prices will increase by 40 percent by the summer driving season compared with 2010, according to a federal projection that was released on Tuesday.

Retail prices for a gallon of regular gasoline will average $3.86 from April through September, up from $2.76 for the comparable this time last year, reported by the Energy Information Administration, the statistics arm of the Energy Department.

How much money do they think the American people have to keep dumping in the gas tanks?

First off, let me say that I think this is totally ridiculous. There is no reason for us to be paying these kinds or higher prices for a gallon of gas here in America. After all, we are the second largest oil producing nation in the world.

Most of the problem I think stems from the fact that there are millions of gallons of oil that has been stockpiled and that are NOT being released for use and this alone causes the price of gasoline, home heating oil, etc to spiral upward.

And, I also believe that we are definitely not a conservative nation. Everyone gets in their cars and puts on miles that could be cut down if we would just take the time to do everything while we are out, thus cutting down on the miles driven each week.

Also, the summer months find many people taking vacations in which they do a lot of driving. If we cut back on the miles we all drive, it would lower the demand thus lowering the price of gas in the long run.

I was watching a moring show yesterday morning and they were talking about the prices of gas.

Right now there are some places that are charging more than $5.60 per gallon depending on where you life!!!

After seeing that price of gas I am ALMOST thankful that prices in my area are $3.99 per gallon!!

Pretty soon everyone is going to need a second job just to be able to keep gas in the tanks!!

I have to agree with Moneysense that there is NO reason that anyone in this country is paying such high prices for fuel of any kind.

If prices continue to increase then people are going to be forced to park their cars and walk, ride a bike, public transportation or carpooling.

Maybe that is what it will all take to get the government to stop this insanity and get the prices lowered!!
