Default Gas prices, what is next?

I saw at the local gas station gas went down one day early this week by 10 cents, then the next morning back up about 5 cents.

Now last night it was up higher then it was at that station in the first place. To hear on the new last night that it will still hit 5 a gallon by summer, this is crazy when the big oil company's are making billions, and get tax brakes to boot. Where is the every day persons take brake?

You just never know how much you will be paying to fill up until you pull in the gas station, it is plain out crazy, we need to stop using our autos so much not fill up, and teach them a lesson.

The people will never get the tax breaks and what not that the big businesses are able to get and same goes for the government.

I also heard that gas prices in my area (which is a small area) are going to be paying $5.00 per gallon some time this summer. Til then we are also seeing the gas prices bouncing around from day to day.

Our government really needs to step in on this one and get the prices back down to where people are going to be able to afford going back and forth to work and the grocery store and other events.

If our government made the same amount of money that the average American made then I venture to guess that there would be all kinds of tax breaks for us and the prices of everything in this country would be much lower than they are right now.

I read an article earlier this week that said that one of the major oil companies had brought in over a billion dollars last year but didnt have to pay taxes or very little taxes on this income.

How can that be? Us little guys get socked with high taxes and these billion dollar a year people pay nothing? Its time for us to get a break here.

As to whats next? Coffee is going up. What used to cost me $10.99 at our local store is now $14.99 for a can of coffee. This is getting ridiculous also. Plus groceries in general are going up, toilet paper and diapers are seeing a raise in cost also.

I agree with ya Moneysense nothing is safe from higher prices these days and it isn't fair at all to us for these companies to be bringing in such large amounts of OUR money and not having to pay taxes on it.

Our government needs to put an end to this kind of stuff. These big companies need to pay their share of the taxes just like everyone else. Then again if this were to happen they would most likely just raise the cost of gas to make up the difference and we would end up paying $10.00 per gallon!!!

I work in a store and I can tell you almost everything went up somewhere between a nickel and a quarter just over the last week. That doesn't sound like much but by the time you buy everything you need for a month it really does make a big difference. The biggest reason behind it is because of fuel cost to ship the items. Another reason is all of the storm and tornados that we have had. They have delayed shipments, wiped out crops and so on.

As for paying for gas I am so sick of it! Almost half of my paychecks go to fuel for my vehicle to get to work and to get the kids where they have to be. It's ridiculous.

Something that came to my attention today while I was at my daughters softball game was the amount of cars at the game. There are fourteen girls on the team and there were more than fourteen cars from our team alone parked at the game. Why don't we carpool? Why can't we ride together, taking turns? We could save on our vehicles and fuel! It makes no sense what we do! I am going to suggest this at tomorrows practice.

That is a great idea. I mean if people are going to the same area and live fairly close to one another it is a perfectly good idea to carpool!! It would save large amounts of money normally spend on gasoline.

Now if more people would just get that idea into their thick heads so that they too can save money.. I don't know why there are some people who just don't care about that kind of stuff or worry about it.

I guess they have enough money that things like higher prices don't bother them, but that is not how it is for the average person.

Suggesting carpooling at the next practice session is a great idea. It wont only save on gas, but wear and tear on the cars also.

People just dont think these days, they just seem to go with the flow of things and dont even really try to save money or at least thats the way it seems.

I had errands to run, so I waited until today so I could go to the insurance company, go to the Dollar General, and get my gas and cigarettes all in one trip.

Had I done this yesterday, I would have had to go back up town today to the insurance company as it wasnt open yesterday. So doing all this a day later, did save me on gas and I like getting as much done at one time as possible anyway.
