Lending Money to Friends

Have any of you lent money to a family member or a friend and lost the relationship with them because of it?

I hear stories like that all of the time. About people who have lent money to someone they were close to and never got the money back. It becomes an issue and ruins the relationship. What a shame that is.

I have never been in a situation like that, probably because I wouldn't have the money to lend to begin with and everyone I know, knows that!

They say that lending money is one of the worst things you can do. But I guess sometimes situations arise when people have no choice but to ask and you feel obligated to lend. Things happen, life happens.

I don't know what i would do in a situation like that.

I had a friend that used to borrow money all the time, and for a while paid it back when she said but after a while she would promise payment tomorrow and I would get the money a week or two later.

It didnt ruin our friendship per se, but I dont lend her any money any more.

When it comes to family though, I would lend if the need arose and I know that if I did, it would be paid back and if they were having a really hard time of it, I would let them make minimal payments.

But you are right, lending generally isnt a good idea.

Lending money to anyone you call a friend is a bad idea, I have many friends who owe me money from years ago, Nothing breaks up a friendship like money
