Default Lottery Income Down

With so many people being out of work or having to take paycuts and cutbacks on hours, they are not playing the lottery nearly as much and this may cause serious problems with states finances.

States get a lot of their money from taxes from state lotteries. With people playing the lottery so much less, they are not collecting the tax money that they depend on. This may have bad effects.

State revenues collected from lotteries fell 2.8% this year. That is the first decline in lottery sales reported in the past twenty years.

What exactly does this mean? It could mean a lot of things including road repairs not being done. School funding cutbacks and the list goes on.

Whatever happens, it won't be good.

Default Re: Lottery Income Down

I think this is just because of the economy being like it is. Once it picks back up so will the lotteries! How sure are we that the money from them really goes to what they are supposed to?
