Man Stole from Three Churches to Feed Family

Police arrested Michael Smith, 34 years old from Beaver Falls, for allegedly stealing from three Beaver county churches to get money and food to feed his family. Police say the money was spent on diapers and food. He also stole frozen food from Divine Mercy Academy.

Police accuse 34-year-old Michael Smith of Beaver Falls of breaking into Divine Mercy Academy, First Presbyterian Church and the day care center at First Baptist Church between June 2 and 5.

Smith has been charged with theft and forgery, criminal trespass and burglary.
To hear of this happening doesn't suprise me at all. Soaring fuel and food prices have a lot of people at their wits end. Although I certainly do not approve of what this man did, he was obviously desperate to feed his family and I can sympathize with that.

It is a shame that people have to resort to such things in order to feed their families. There has to be help for these people, plus friends and family could help as much as possible.

There needs to be a better way for these people, there needs to be more help readily available. And though I dont approve of stealing, I understand his concern and hope that things like this will wake up the people that can change things.
