Default Mattel Stole the Bratz Doll Idea?

I didn't know this at all but I guess Mattel has been battling with MGA Entertainment over the right to the Bratz dolls.

Do you remember those dolls. They have been the biggest selling dolls since Barbie.

My daughter used to love these dolls. I think she had everyone of them.

Here is the deal. I guess the guy who created the dolls worked for Mattel at the time BUT he was not at work or creating the dolls at work. Therefore, Mattel's claims that they have the rights to the dolls just doesn't exist.

MGA Entertainment has been awarded $88.5 million dollars in damages.

Quote:
"This is a victory for all the hard-working entrepreneurs and small companies who get bullied unfairly by large multinational corporations with deep pockets," he said.
Mattel said it would challenge the decision.
"MGA's claims against us were simply not supported by the evidence at trial. We will ask the court to set aside the verdict. Once the judge rules on our motions, we will evaluate our next steps," Mattel general counsel Robert Normile said in a statement.
This battle will go on.

Apparently there was enough evidence or else a money award for damages would not have been issued.

It is a shame that these large companies think that they can push people around as they to often do. I hope that their plans to get the verdict set aside doesn't work and that these big companies learn that the little people will not be pushed around.

I remember these dolls and they were a huge hit for quite a long time. I saw them everywhere!! It seemed that all the kids I knew or even saw had something Bratz with/on them.

Yes I do remember these dolls, never liked them myself, never got any for my daughters due to the fact they are called bratz last thing I wanted my kids to think about.
