Default New grads in higher demand

I received this study from our daughters school during orientation to 10th grade. They are preparing them for college and I guess trying to let them know what jobs are in higher demand.

A new study by the National Association of Colleges and Employers indicates that the market is improving for new graduates with bachelor’s degrees in business, engineering and computer-related fields.

Eighty percent of respondents (employers) rated the job market for new grads as very good to excellent, an increase from 38 percent the previous year, according to Marilyn Mackes, NACE’s executive director.

Seventy percent of respondents said they were planning on raising starting salaries for new grads.

The Top 10 majors potential employers were interested in hiring were as follows:

• Accounting

• Electrical Engineering

• Mechanical Engineering

• Business Administration

• Economics/Finance

• Computer Science

• Computer Engineering

• Marketing or Marketing Management

• Chemical Engineering

• Information Sciences and Systems
