The public is now more aware than ever of the energy issues. Skyrocketing fuel prices have put everyone in a pinch and are a big part of why the economy is in a downward spiral. Voters are not only worried about the high prices though, another concern is the low oil supply. Obama and McCain's ideas on energy differ vastly.
Quote:
McCain would mandate reductions ingreenhouse gasses, then largely rely on the free market to spur conservation. In order to ease the pain of high gas prices he also wants to suspend the federal gas tax.

Obama would tax oil companies and use the money to help low income people. He would also restrict greenhouse gasses, but charge more for companies to pollute and use the money to fund renewable energy research. He also sees a bigger role for government in encouraging conservation.

I am not sure which plan seems the best or if either of them would really give us any relief from the high fuel costs. The one thing I am certain about is that something needs to be done and I don't know if we can wait until January for it to happen.
