Default Record Unemployment for Teens

The unemployment rate for teens (sixteen to nineteen year olds) is up to 27.6%! Thats a record high and the third straight record high for the past three months. The number just keeps climbing higher and higher.

What makes that sad is that a lot of families depend on the income that their teenage children earn as well as their own. In many cases these kids are helping to feed their families or are saving for college. Some are in college and if they cannot find a job to support themselves they may have to drop out.

As I said above, the teenage unemployment rate is 27.6%. The national average is 10.2%. Teenagers have been hit the hardest with this.

The reason they have been hit so hard by this is because older people are having to take the jobs that teens usually do. Most teenagers start out working in fast food restaurants or in retail but these jobs have been taken up by people who just can't find any work in their field of expertise. That is understandable but still sad for those who are just trying to make a start for themselves.
