Default Slow Down to Save Gas

I know we have all talked about gas saving tips in the past but with gas as high as it is right now and only going higher I thought I'd share some more tips.

They say gas will hit $5.00 per gallon this summer.

First of all, if you can walk- go for it. It's good for the body and the wallet.

Remove some junk from your trunk. I think we all accumulate unneeded things in our vehicles over time. The extra weight only means more gas usage.

Properly inflated tires will allow your car to work easier saving you fuel.

Slow down. For every five mph that you slow down you will save 24 cents per gallon. Apparently not too many people know that because they pass me flying by all the time. I do the speed limit. One, I don't want a ticket and two, I like to save my gas.

Get you gas early in the morning when the ground is cool where the fuel tanks are. You will get more gas and less vapor.

Don't let your car idle while running into the store or wherever. Idling consumes a quart of gas every 15 minutes of idling.

If you know of any more tips please share them. We can use all the gas help we can get!

these are very good tips on saving some money, also walking is good for the environment, not just good on the wallet, and your body.

Thats true centsgirl. Walking is good all the way around.

Ya know where I live a gallon of gas costs $3.79 right now. Thats the national average.

In many places though, they are already over the four dollar mark.

Soon we will be at the 2008 level per gallon.

I read that there is a decent change that the national average will be above $4 per gallon by July. I heard somewhere else though that we can expect to get close to $5 per gallon!

The price of gas right now is ridiculous. And as you said, its not going to get any better any time soon.

We have a round trip of 150 miles to my husbands doctor and chemo treatments and what with the prices climbing, it costs more and more each time we have to make this trip, but because hes a Veteran, he does get reimbursed for what he spends on gasoline for these trips.

Most people dont get reimbursed for any amount of traveling they have to do for appointments that have to be kept no matter how far away they are and that really cuts into their budget.

I will be very surprised to see much road travel this summer but then again, people dont seem to get the point that if they would just stay home, it would really hurt the gasoline companies and the prices would come down.
