I work in a store and I can believe this one for sure. Store theft has jumped by 9% over the past year. I am sure a lot of that has to do with the economy. The thing is, who pays for all of that theft? Answer.. you and I.
On average, store theft costs average families $435.00 a year. The more theft there is, the higher stores mark up prices to make up the difference, the more you pay for goods. It's a cycle and we are on the losing end of it.
$42.2 billion dollars were lost by retailers because of shoplifters, employee theft and supply chain fraud.
In the year before, retail crimes had only rose 1.5%. Thats a huge jump.

I hate to say it but we have been catching shop lifters left and right and I work in a little sleepy town. You just never know who you can trust anymore thats for sure.
