Default Coupon Hunters

My husband and I were watching this show on TLC last night (it was my night to pick the channel rofl) and the show was about these women who have made coupons a way of life literally.

This one woman would walk two hours everyday collecting coupons from people in her neighborhood that she had saving them for her. It even showed her taking coupon flyers out of the trash that someone had thrown away!

Let me tell ya, she's a very smart woman though. After she collected all of her coupons she went home, cut them out and made her grocery list. She went to the market and did her shopping. The cashier rung up all of her items and her total came to over $600.00. Then she handed the cashier her coupons. I swear to you I'm not lying but she ended up paying $6.36 for all of that stuff!!! It was amazing! I've never seen anything like it in my life.

And the show featured three other women who did the same thing.

So don't let anyone tell you that coupon clipping isn't worth it because I saw the proof! Unbelievable.

The lady said, you only really have to pay the amount that you want. If you put a little effort into it, that amount can be very little.

I know that clipping coupons can really save a person some money, however I didn't think it was possible to turn a $600.00 bill into $6.00!! Now that is some serious savings!!

Maybe I should be looking into how they did this and start putting it to use at my home. I do clip coupons but I have never managed to save that much money when shopping.

If I could do this I would seriously save some money on groceries and that saved money could be put to a much better use.

Those women have "stores" literally in their homes. The one had shelves all through her garage and she had her goods all neatly arranged on them. She probably wouldn't have to shop for years!

It's basically a way of life for these people. A smart way of life too.

I finally found the information on the internet about that show. The show was called "Extreme Couponers".

I guess their obession has interfered with their relationships with their spouses. They spend so much time gathering their coupons and planning their shopping trips that it has left them with little time for anything else.

Thats just crazy savings though. But I guess you would need to find some kind of balance. Money isn't everything.

There is a video that shows a couple of the women that I was talking about. Check it out. It's about half way down the page on the left.

That is amazing to pay so little for a shopping trip just by clipping coupons.

And one advantage of being online is that you can get a lot of coupons from the internet and that would certainly save the woman a couple of hours every day.

But then she might do it her usual way just so she can get double the amount of cents off coupons.

But try searching the internet, Olay has coupons you can print off and you can even get coupons off the internet for things like free contact lenses. So search away.

I believe that it is good to save as much money as possible, however giving up on so many things in life just because you want to go grocery shopping isn't good!!

I could never do that. I want to save as much as I can but I am not willing to give up spending time with my sweetie or the fun we have walking through the park or anything else to buy groceries and save money.

Now if there was a way to get those huge savings with out spending so much time preparing then I would be more willing to give it a chance.

I would also imagine that this would only work in certain areas. I don't know of any stores around here where I live that offer things like double coupons and other extra savings.

This is a great show and it gives us all the idea that if we try hard enough we can live like kings on a paupers salary.

I have been using a site called Shop at home and I can print coupons at home which is great.

Anyone can save money this way but it really is up to you as too how much you can save. The only problem that I saw was that one woman in particular was becoming a horder.

With the amount of food and miscellanious other things that she had she could donate it to the needy. It wouldn't matter that she hadn't paid alot for it she still would have gotten a reciept for its true value.

In the end the savings would have been even greater and there would be a few less hungry people in the world. If I can reach the level that she has I will do exactly that and give all that I can to help those less fortunate than myself.
