Default Cruise Control does save gas

There is some debate on this issue, but it depends on the type of driver you are and the size of engine you have. But for most people, it seems like you would save more by using it.

You get up to 14% savings on gas with an average savings of 7%. That would equate to about a 25 cent discount on each gallon.

The exception to this is for mountainous driving. It will try to keep you up to the speed you’ve set and will use a lot of extra gas downshifting to lower gears to accomplish this.

I also believe that using cruise control does save you gas. Cruise keeps you plugging along steadily whereas we tend to continuously adjust our foot on the pedal.

I have also read that when using your a/c in your car you should put it on max a/c to save gas. My car's manual says thats the most economic setting.

I like driving with cruise control on, because not only does it save gas but it helps to make sure that you are not speeding and reduces the risk of getting pulled over for something foolish.

I know of several people who tend to have one heck of a lead foot when it comes to driving and it can be quite scary at times.

Then again you also have to worry about those morons out there who are to busy chatting away on their cell phones to pay any attention to what they are doing as well.

Oh well back to the point. Using cruise control when driving especially on long trips can save yourself a lot of money in the gas tank.

Anytime I drive that is not in town I always use cruise control.. The only time I do not is if it is raining. Never use cruise when it is raining. If it because if you were to start hydroplaning you would not have any contol.

Haha when we take long trips I look over and my wife will have her feet up in the seat while she is driving. Glad to see that cruise control she is fond of saves us money on gas.

I have always believed it to be true to save gas using cruise control and so I actually tested the theory on a trip for five hours to Virginia and back.

The car used three quarters of a tank of gas going up there not using cruise control and on the way back using cruise control as much as possible the car only used a little over a half of a tank.

So I have proven that cars do save gas using the cruise control.
