Default Cut Summer Energy Costs

I am continuously saying in the winter time that I can't wait for summer because heating the house in the winter costs so much but it costs almost the same in the summer to keep the house cool. Here are a few tips to help ya save on your summer energy costs. I think we can all use some money saving tips thats for sure.

First of all do the obvious. Check your doors and windows to be sure they are sealed properly. Pay attention to electrical sockets as well because if the covers are not installed properly you will have air leaks around them.

Don't close off air vents. Some people think that if they close off vents to unused rooms it will help cool other rooms more quickly. All that does is restrict airflow returning to your unit putting more stress on it.

Upgrade attic insulation. Most houses do not have the proper insulation levels which only allows air to get in and out through the roof.

One last thing, plastic the windows. Most people plastic the windows for the winter and remove it in the summer. I leave it up all year round. It keeps the heat in in the winter and the heat out in the summer.

Default Re: Cut Summer Energy Costs

I have found that I can save over fifty bucks a month just installing ceiling fans in all of the rooms in my house.

I also cut the air conditioner off during the day when no one is home.

I made sure that any holes around the windows was calked up.

I also made sure that the doors seals where still good,.

All of these things helped me to save over fifty dollars a month on my electric bill.
