Government Spending
The national debt is like 13 trillion or more, and is going to increase.
This isn't a good way to start off the new year. Everyone is talking about saving money which in our own homes is more easily done. Though something needs to be done about the amount of money our government and other organizations are spending daily.
This is an email that my sister had sent to me a couple of days ago and it speaks the truth on what is going on in this country.
THIS PRETTY MUCH SUMS IT UP & MAKES YOU THINK!!
Would someone please tell me what's wrong with all the people that run this country!!!
We're "broke" so we can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,???????????
In the last months, we have provided aid to Haiti , Chile , Turkey and now Pakistan .....home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!
Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid, no Social Security raises, nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$'s and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!
We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.
AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without 'needed' meds, and mentally ill without treatment - and on & on --
YET... They have a 'Benefit' for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents, clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.
Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries.
Sad isn't it?
If things were different and our own government stopped the spending to help everyone else in the world this country sure would be much better off and we would not have the financial problems that we have today.

Re: Government Spending
In my opinion, the national debt increasing in the United States is not due to foreign aid contributions. Foreign aid contributions are just a tiny aspect of the government's spending. The U.S government needs to hire more IRS tax lawyers to increase their revenue. This recession has made our debt burden even worse and cheaters can not be tolerated anymore.

Re: Government Spending
Taxes evasion is also just a drop in the bucket if you really think about it. Plain and simple the U.S government needs to stop spending more than what is coming in.There are a bunch of problems where money is wasted in this country and that kind of stuff needs to be stopped.
However those billions of dollars which are sent over seas to help others should be spent in this country. It is about damn time this country started taking care of it's self BEFORE helping anyone else!!!!

Re: Government Spending
I totally agree with you dimetime it is out of control. I also believe that our president should not be spending so much time on the golf course or traveling.
What is he doing when he is on these trips that benifits the people that he works for. Nothing as far as I am concerned. We need to get it togetheer and I will not vote for anyone. I do not believe that my vote counts other than to put another money grubbing SOB into an office just because he promised to do something.
Stand up to them and let them know who really is in control. What would they do if no one showed up to the polls next election? How would the decide who gets to be in what office?
They all keep saying that they are doing these things in the interest of the people yet I see nothing that helps us in anyway other than to make us futher in debt and to make us pay it off. Just a thought.

Re: Government Spending
It's ridiculous how we allow them to live the lives that they do while the country is going to heck. They need to live just like we do. Make a living on an hourly paycheck thats reasonable. They can pay into healthcare like we do. They can save for their retirement like we do. What they do is just a job- just like yours and mine. Nothing more. Why are they making millionaires out of themselves from it? Why do we allow it?

Re: Government Spending
Oh Hell if they were forced to live off a pay check like most Americans do they would not be able to survive at all.
They have become accustomed to living the high luxurious life and would not know what to do if they had to actually save money for anything.
Though I do honestly believe that they need to take some serious pay cuts and also start paying for things that most other do. Things like student loans and vacations and what not. They should have to pay for everything that the average person does instead of forcing the rest of the country to pay for everything!!!
If this country would stop putting everyone else on the planet before ourselves, stop the useless spending, help the people then this country sure as well would be much better off!!!
