Default My little ways to save money

With the prices up on everything, we needed to do some cut backs, like most people have. A few things that I have done that is saving me about 100 a month.

1. Got rid of my cell phone, only using my home phone now.saving 50 a month

2.Only driving when needed, like to go to the store, or doctor appointments, no more joy riding. Saving well a lot, probably at least 60 a month.

3.Buying no name brands anymore except maybe my trash bags cheap ones rip to easy, but saving about 30-40 a month this way.

4.When I need a higher priced item I check flea markets, or used stores for it, I have saved thousands this year alone that way.

5. I never buy anything on impulse anymore, if I see something I want, I do not buy it, I will sleep on it, then I never do go back for it, because I realize I do not need it, or can just do without it. Probably saving hundreds a year this way.

At our house, we follow those same basic rules. And when we do have appointments, we try to do our grocery shopping and whatever else needs done on our way home. That way, there are no extra trips during the week which can do a lot on saving gas.

When we run across good sales on food etc, we stock up. Buying at lower prices not only saves you money but fewer trips to the store.

I saved over $50 when I bought my new microwave. It was a bit smaller but was the same wattage as the larger, higher priced ones and it also has a reminder on it. By that I mean that if you dont take your coffee or whatever out when it is finished, it will beep again every minute or so to remind you that its still in there, and thats a money saver too because this way you dont have to reheat it.

Saving money is something we all strive to do and if anyone has other suggestions please share with us.

Thank you moneycents, yes we also try to stock up when there are any big sales, like this week there is a big sale on , and toilet paper, at Kmart, so I am stocking up on it, it does not go bad, that way I will not be buying that for many months now.
