Default Save During Power Outage

One thing I discovered is that in some households people tend to open their refrigerators when there is no power in the house. This isn't a good idea to do because you lose the cool air inside and this speeds up the process of spoiling the foods inside.

Our neighbor did this and ended up having to toss everything they had in there. Lunch meats, fruits, veggies, eggs, milk, and everything else.

They had a line come down and they were out of power for a just over 12 hours but because they kept getting stuff out of there, by the time the power was restored everything in there was pretty much spoiled or seriously spoiled.

I guess their milk looked more like cottage cheese.

Another good option is to buy candles rather than flashlights and batteries. Candles are less expensive and tend to last quite a long time.

These are just a few tips to help yourself save during a power outage.

Default Re: Save During Power Outage

I keep my refrig. closed threw a whole power outage, and only open the freezer for a min. to get ice, other then that it stays shut too, do not want to lose my food, who can afford that?
