In a Dutch oven, brown beef in oil. Add water, pepper, Worcestershire, bay leaves, garlic and paprika and cook covered for 1 ½ hours, stirring often.
Remove bay leaves, add vegetables and cook an additional 45 minutes.
Remove vegetables/meat and liquid from pot, placing in two containers. Skim or strain fat from broth. Measure 1 ¼ cup of broth and return to Dutch oven.
Combine cornstarch and ¼ cup cold water. Stir into hot broth and cook, stirring constantly until thickened. Return beef and vegetables to Dutch oven and heat thoroughly. Serves 8.
Now choosing the right storage container is important too. Some recommend the vaccum seal bags but you can purchase containers that are made for freezing. Be sure to get the right ones no one wants a freezer burned mess when all they want to do is get dinner done.
