Default Ways to cut your food budget

1.Identify and remove a only a few key grocery items.

2.Cut out just one or two restaurant outings per month.

3.No need for new cookbooks.

4.Be ruthless with spending on meat.

5.Take advantage of staple foods, such as rice, potatoes, beans, oats, brown rice, etc.

Spending for groceries can get quite expensive but there are lots of ways to save.

For instance, when we make bean soup here, the leftover beans are used to make chili with, combined with the chili beans, it is quite good.

We use rice with soups on top of the rice, or make the rice and top it with a stir fry. Using these techniques makes what you do prepare go a lot further.

The uses for potatoes is limitless. Mashed, fried, potato salad, potato soup, you name it, there isnt much you cant do with potatoes.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hey I use leftover mashed potatoes the next morning for breakfast. I mix some egg and flour in and then fry them to a golden brown.

They are wonderful with over easy eggs and your favorite meat. I have always loved these.

You can also used mashed potatoes in a baked potatoe and make twice baked potatoes. YUMMY!

I have found a great way to help me save. You guys have to check this out.

It's a website called foodonthetable.com. You got there and sign up- it only takes a few seconds. Then you pick your local store that you shop at. Next you choose what types of food you usually prepare.

The next page will show you the foods that are on sale at your store that you may be interested in. Next you can pick from the foods on sale and they will give you some recipes. Next it tells you what you need for the recipe. And it tells you what your savings will be by buying those items that are on sale.

You can print your grocery list and the recipe.

It's really neat.

Hey there, thanks a big bunch for sharing you find with us. Anything and everything we can do to save these days is much needed.

To have the recipies and be told what all you will need for it is a real plus, takes all the guess work out of planning for the meal and to be able to know whats on sale in advance is also a real plus.

Being able to print everything out is great too, then all you have to do is add to the grocery the other things you will need for the week. Again, thanks for the find and for sharing it.
