Default 2009 Gas Electric Hybrids will be available from Honda

I think this is wonderful. A more effecient Hybrid will be available in 2009. The Hybrids that are on the market now in my opinion just don't have the power needed on the highway.

Quote:
TOKYO (AP) - Honda will sell a new, improved and affordable gas-electric hybrid in the U.S., Japan and Europe starting in early 2009, underlining the Japanese automaker's commitment to "green" technology, the company president said Wednesday.

The new model - to be sold solely as a hybrid, and not as a traditional, gasoline-powered car - is a key part of Honda Motor Co.'s strategy for the next three years that President Takeo Fukui outlined at Tokyo headquarters.
The difference between hybrids and their comparable standard models should be kept within 200,000 yen (US$1,900; 1,200), although such price gaps can now reach as much as 500,000 yen (US$4,800; 3,000).
Honda to sell new gas-electric hybrid next year

I'm sure alot of people including myself will be looking forward to this. Gas Prices just don't seem to stop. And with oil now at a record high of $130 a barrel there seems there is no end in sight.

This is great. Most of the hybrids now do not seem to be quite efficient enough for everyday use. This will help the pollution and with the fuel crisis. The only problem is that they may not be affordable enough for a lot of people but this is a start. Anyway we can find to use less fuel will help bring the costs of gas down.
