Default American Axle Back to Work next Week

The workers have been on strike since Feb fighting to keep their wages and benifits the same. While the company fight to cut wages and benifits to keep there doors open.

Quote:
Workers at American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc. (GM: 18.43, -0.69, -3.60%) expect to return to their jobs early next week after overwhelmingly approving a new contract that contains steep pay cuts and other concessions.
United Auto Workers members at five American Axle sites in Michigan and New York voted 78% in favor of the four-year deal, while 22% voted against, the union said in a statement late Thursday.
American Axle Approves Contact, Ends Strike

I think that if the people that voted against the contract would step back and look they would be thankful for there jobs and what they still have in the way of pay and benifts. With so many companies closing there doors and going to other countries for cheaper labor. In this case its a win win situation. They get to keep their jobs and the Company gets to keep their production going.

I understand the workers desire to keep their current wages and benefits the same, it's hard for everyone to get by right now on what we earn. At the same time though it is better for the company to be able to stay open and for the workers to have a job than not at all. Times are tough right now for everyone, individuals and businesses. We all have to make certain sacrifices in order to live in this economy.

I am thrilled to hear this about american axle. I am sure
that there are allot of automotive workers who have been
waiting for this to end. So many people have been put out
of work by this strike and now hopefully they can get back
to work.
I live in michigan and quite allot of the jobs available here
are automotive manufacturing. People here seem to get
hit the quickest and the hardest when these strikes happen.
I hope everything settles down for a while so people can at
least get their bills caught up.
