Default BIg Companies claim no money

I know someone who has worked at Kmart for over a year now, who also owns Sears, so why does such a big company not be able to give raises to anyone this year, to me that is wrong.

That is the news they broke to the workers this past month at the local store that is, my question is did management not get a raise also? I doubt that very much, or they would be gone.

Makes me wonder how many big companies are doing the same thing this year, anyone else hear of any?

It seems rather odd that there is no money in these big businesses with which to give employees raises. Most of these big businesses dont pay a lot in income taxes etc at the end of the year and one would think that if they make enough of a profit to stay in business while so many others have had to close their doors that there would be enough profit to share with their employees.

After all, if not for the employees they wouldnt be able to be in business and heaven knows the customers are paying more than ever for their merchandise.

So whats the problem here? Big business staying big is their only thought is my opinion.
