Companies Say No Layoffs No matter the Bad Economy
A whopping 40,000 jobs have been cut in just this past week alone. These include cuts at Dow Chemical, Electronic Arts, the National Football League and Sony Corp. They say this is because of the bad economy and is something they simply cannot avoid doing.
There are some companies though that say they will not be handing out any pink slips no matter what the economy is.
One of these companies is Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines is committed to their employees and will do whatever they can to avoid cutting jobs.
Companies such as Hypertherm and public companies like Lincoln Electric and steelmaker Nucor have a No-Layoff policy in place and they say they have no intention of doing away with that now.
A spokesman for Nucor, Gregg Lucas says the company has had the No-Layoff policy in place since 1966 and have held that standard ever since.
A spokeswoman for Erie Insurance, Vanessa Paris says that they do not have any no-layoff policy but that also avoid it any way possible. This company has been in business since 1925 and had never layed anyone off.
Many of these companies are finding ways to cut costs instead of cutting jobs in these hard economic times. This is great news for those who are employed for these companies. Also many employees are willing to do what they can to protect the companies bottom lines to ensure the future of their jobs. They have no need to worry about job security in the future.
