Discount Stores Fairing Well
In an 8 year study more than 35,000 store which included supercenter, warehouse clubs, grocery and convenience store opened up across the country.
Though according to the study done some stores showed a much better growth than others during the start of this recession. Those stores which are showing better growth are those which offer the people greater discounted products. These stores inclued Dollar Tree, Family Dollar and the 99 cent only stores.
The reason these stores are still fairing better than many other stores is simply because people are wanting to save money every where they possibly can, and these discounted stores are making sure that they are offering the people the items needed most.
For Dollar Tree and the 99 cent only stores are seeing their shares raise by over 45% and 50%. Family Dollar saw a share raise by more than 40%.
While stores such as Walgreens and Macys have seen their shares go down between 35% and 60%, and even worse some stores such as Circuit City have been forced to close their doors.
When the prices of gasoline had jumped through the roof and people were really looking to save money, many of these type of discount stores actually added in freezers and coolers to offer their customers more shopping choices, which help them to deal with the high prices of fuel.
I personally love these discount stores. I shop there as much as I possibly can. How about you?
