Default EPA and the energy tax.

There is alot of debate about the energy tax. To me there is no debate we just can't afford to pay more. They are going to try and stop this from happening. I just hope that we don't make the mistake of forgetting that we still need to reduce our carbon footprint or we will be paying more than just more for our electricity bills.

Quote:

In the coming weeks the 112th Congress will be debating the Energy Tax Prevention Act that will halt the energy tax that the Obama administration is implementing through the Environmental Protection Agency. Launched without legislative approval, this is yet another tax from an ideological executive, out of touch with the financial hardships American families and small businesses are facing.
If gone unchecked, these rules could:
  • Regulate carbon emissions and extend another layer of bureaucracy to over 260,000 office buildings, 92,000 hospitals, and 51,000 food-service facilities.
  • Increase the price of energy for families and small businesses and make America less competitive by preventing us from using our own natural resources
  • Ship American jobs overseas to countries that recognize stable, affordable energy policies
In light of the administrations continued attempts to regulate, cap, and tax greenhouse gases—Representative Fred Upton, Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, has introduced legislation that will prevent this energy tax: the Energy Tax Prevention Act.
His bill calls for a restoration of common-sense energy policy that increases American jobs and competitiveness through:
  • Preventing the use of the Clean Air Act as a vehicle for a regulatory tax regime
  • Permanently prohibiting a national energy tax from being imposed under the Clean Air Act
It will be interesting to see which way this goes. I am hoping that they stop the energy tax as it will kill many business's.
