Default More job layoffs.

Tens of thousands of layoffs were announced Monday, with Pfizer, Catterpillar and Home Depot, laying off workers.

This is said to be just the tip of the iceberg as far as layoffs are concerned as it is being predicted that there will be at least 2 million more layoffs during 2009.

Add that together with the 2.6 million layoffs in 2008 and that gives us a total of 4.8 million people that will be out of work.

And yet, McDonalds has a plan to open a thousand more stores. That doesnt seem to be good thinking to me, because if no one has jobs, how will the new stores make it?

This country is in a financial recession that is not going to get better any time soon. In fact, at the rate things are going, I see it getting much worse than what it already is.

And yet, I dont here anyone on the "hill" saying anything at all about making new jobs for people. That, one would think, should be a top priority right now.
