Default Pilots file a suit against US Airways

Former pilots from America West Airlines, have come together as a group to ask federal courts to stop US Airways Group Inc from furloughing even more pilots which had flown for America West.
Back in 2005 US Airways was bought by the Arizona based America West. The headquaters was kept in Phoenix but the name US Airways was taken.
US Airways opertates at Raleigh Durham International Airport, has plans to place around 300 pilots on leave with the possibility to be called back, in the fourth quarter as well as the first quarter. Though they are saying there will be a possibility to be called back there are no guarentees this will ever happen. Six of the former pilots on Thursday filed suit with the U.S District court in hopes for a preliminary injuction against furloughs of pilots from pre-merger. The plaintiffs also say that former America West pilots were not given proper representation by the labor unions.
Morgan Durrant a spokeman for US Airways says that the airline will not be making any statements or comments on a pending litigation.
The District Court will be hearing several different issues at the hearing, and hopefully there will be a decision which will be helpful to all those involved in this suit.

Default Re: Pilots file a suit against US Airways

It seems that no jobs are safe in this day and age. Too many people are already jobless, or have had hours cut so much that they no longer have benefits or are able to keep up with their house payments and utilities.

I'm sure that these pilots are possible losing their jobs because the rest of our citizens cannot afford to travel as we used to. I wish the pilots good luck with this one.
