Saving Tips for Small Business Owners
Small business owners are feeling the pinch more than anyone these days I think. They have had to cut employees and pays. If you own a small business there are some things that you can look into to help you save money.
1. Look into your property insurance. It's always a good idea to have included in your policy your office equipment but the rates for that can be high. You might want to consider dropping the insurance on your older, dated equipment. The money you would recoup from dated equipment is so minimal that the cost of the insurance is most likely not worth it.
2. Rent is another aspect to look into. If you rent the building where your business is, try to negotiate the cost. Find comparables in your area and let your landlord know what you have found out.
3. If you own the property where your business is and pay high annual property taxes then you should appeal the cost. There is aminimal cost to appeal and they cannot increase your tax as a result of the appeal. So the risk is minimal. Use recently sold property nearby as comparables to argue the cost with the county and tell them they may be over-assessing your property.
