Default UPS has too many pilots.

UPS reported having a good first quarter but says that it has too many pilots.

They will be letting some of them go and it is being reported as a cost cutting move.

Quote:
The company, which has 2,819 pilots, said it simply has more pilots than it needs. It says it tried, but failed, to reach a deal with the pilots union on enough concessions that would have averted the need for furloughs.
This business like so many others is looking to save some money while it waits for the economy to rebound in its entirety.

I hate to see people loose their jobs but moves like this also keeps the costs for the things we use or buy down.
