Default Wal-Mart Hiring Practices

This is something that I have seen a lot when shopping at Wal-mart though never really paid any attention to it.

Though now that the news is out about this company facing a law suit, I thought I would also mention what I have noticed.

Depending on the area that you live in, most of the time you will either see more elderly employees at Wal-mart or you will see teenagers and young adult employees.

I personally believe that Wal-mart does this because the elderly normally don't worry about benefits and such because they usually already have coverage. As for the young adults and teenagers, well they don't normally worry about such things.

I think that this is why Wal-mart chooses these age groups for employment because this saves the store money on benefits that most people would insist on.

Next time you head out to this store, really take a good look around at the employees and you could possibly see the same thing that I have.

Default Re: Wal-Mart Hiring Practices

I had read that Wal-Mart is in the middle of a class action lawsuit because they choose men over women way more often then vice versa for management positions. I guess they give men way better opportunities then they women.

I had posted about this before. I think it was something like 70% of Wal-Marts workforce is made up of women and yet only a very small number of them are offered management postitions or better. Thats just ridiculous I think. Aren't we past the stone ages by now???

They even said that women are paid less for doing the same jobs as men. Oh man would that have me peeved!

There is no doubt that at the wal-mart where I shop there are way more woman that work there. I haven't noticed a difference between the amount of women management and men management though.

I would really hope that it isn't the norm for Wal-mart to be like that. I love Wal-Mart but I would stop shopping there if that is the case.

You can read what I had written here...

Wal-Mart also does this because in these age groups they are not as much into promotions, so they will never make much more then they start out as, I worked for this company so I also saw what they do, and I hope they lose all the lawsuits against them, Could not happen to a better company.

You would figure that a company as large as Walmart and one which promotes how much it cares about it's employees would actually care about them instead of lying in commercials!!

I do believe that Walmart is finally going to get what it deserves. This company claims that it only wants to help everyone and so on and so on however if it refuses to even treat its employees properly then why shouldn't they be punished??

I really hope that Walmart loses its case and is forced to start treating everyone properly!! I am surprised that people haven't come forward before now to contest the treatments of employees, though at least they are finally trying to do something about it. Better late than never I guess.

I would never work for a company which has such horrible hiring practices nor one which treats male employees better than female employees. I just hope that if Walmart does lose this law suit that they learn from this and actually start doing what they have been preaching since they opened their doors.
